Students who have previously received the SBI Asha Scholarship and are eligible for renewal for the academic year 2026–27 should carefully follow the instructions below.
This article explains the complete renewal process, including how to claim your renewal, verify your previous details, complete the application, and resolve common issues.
Before You Begin
Please keep the following details ready before starting the renewal process:
Your previous year's Scholarship ID
Access to the registered mobile number or email address used in your previous scholarship record
Your current academic and personal details
Required documents for the current academic year
Latest academic marks
Bank account details
Current address and academic information
Important: Your previous year's Scholarship ID is used to identify your renewal record. It is not the new application number generated for the current application.
Step-by-Step Renewal Process
Step 1: Log In or Create Your Account
Visit the official SBI Asha Scholarship portal and log in to your account.
If required, create an account and proceed to the Renewal section.
The email address used to sign in to the portal may be different from the email address registered in your previous scholarship record.
However, during the renewal verification process, you may be asked to verify the contact details associated with your previous scholarship record.
Step 2: Enter Your Previous Year's Scholarship ID
Enter your previous year's Scholarship ID in the renewal section.
Please ensure that:
The Scholarship ID is entered correctly.
Any leading zeros are included.
There are no unnecessary spaces or typing errors.
If You See: “We couldn't find a renewal record for that Scholarship ID”
This may happen if:
The Scholarship ID has been entered incorrectly.
The Scholarship ID belongs to an older scholarship cycle that is not eligible for renewal this year.
You are a first-time applicant and have selected the renewal option by mistake.
The record requires further review.
If you are unable to proceed after verifying your Scholarship ID, kindly contact the appropriate support team with the relevant details.
Step 3: Verify Your Registered Contact Details
After entering a valid Scholarship ID, the system may display a masked mobile number and/or email address associated with your previous scholarship record.
You will need to enter the appropriate contact detail in full.
Important Instructions
The masked contact details are based on your previous scholarship record.
If your mobile number or email address has changed since your previous application, the system may still require the contact detail associated with the previous scholarship record for verification.
While Entering Your Mobile Number
Enter the 10-digit mobile number.
Do not include +91.
Do not add spaces.
While Entering Your Email Address
Enter the email address with the correct spelling.
Make sure you are using the email address that corresponds to the masked information shown on the screen.
If You Do Not Recognise the Masked Contact
In some cases, the previous scholarship record may contain a contact detail belonging to a parent, guardian, or institution.
If you genuinely do not recognise the masked mobile number or email address, do not repeatedly guess or attempt random details. Please seek further assistance through the appropriate support process.
Step 4: Enter the Verification Code
Once the correct registered contact detail is entered, a 6-digit verification code will be sent to the contact associated with your previous scholarship record.
Enter the code to verify and claim your renewal.
If the Code Is Incorrect or Has Expired
You may:
Carefully check the code and enter it again, or
Request a new code, if the option is available.
Please avoid repeated incorrect attempts.
Important: Code Request Cooldown
If you see a message asking you to wait before requesting another code, please wait for the specified time before trying again.
Account or Scholarship ID Locked
Repeated unsuccessful attempts may temporarily lock your Scholarship ID.
This may happen due to:
Multiple incorrect contact verification attempts.
Multiple incorrect verification codes.
Repeated unsuccessful attempts during the renewal process.
If your Scholarship ID is locked:
Stop making further attempts.
Wait for 60 minutes.
Try again after the lock period has ended.
Use the correct previous scholarship details.
Important: Repeated attempts during the lock period should be avoided.
What Happens After the Renewal Is Successfully Claimed?
After successfully completing the verification process, your renewal application will be created.
In most cases, the system will generate a pre-filled renewal application draft.
Some details from your previous scholarship record may already be available in the renewal application.
These may include:
Name
Date of birth
Gender
Category
Disability status
Parental status
Family income details
Guardian details
Previous school or college information
State and district details of the institution
Details You Need to Enter or Update Yourself
The following information is generally not automatically completed for the current academic year and should be entered or uploaded by the applicant as required:
Mobile number
Email address
Current address details
Bank account details
Required documents
Latest academic marks
Current class, semester, or academic year
Current academic information
Please carefully review all the information before submitting the renewal application.
If You Already Have an Existing Application
In some cases, the system may detect that your account already has a live application.
You may then be required to provide consent before proceeding with the renewal.
Please read all instructions carefully before confirming any action.
Important
Depending on the status of the existing application:
An unfinished application may be set aside.
A submitted application may need to be withdrawn before proceeding.
These actions may not be reversible.
Therefore, please carefully review the information displayed on the portal before giving consent or entering an application number.
If You See: “You Have Already Claimed a Renewal on This Account”
This generally means that a renewal application associated with the scholarship has already been claimed on the account.
Please check the My Applications section to see whether your renewal application is available as a draft or submitted application.
Do not repeatedly create additional accounts or attempt to claim the same scholarship multiple times.
If you are unable to access the existing renewal application, please provide the relevant details and screenshots through the appropriate support process.
If You See: “This Scholarship Has Already Been Linked to Another Account”
This means that the Scholarship ID has already been associated with another account.
Before taking any further action, please check whether:
You have another email address or account.
A family member may have created an account using the Scholarship ID.
You previously created another account and may have forgotten about it.
Creating multiple new accounts may not resolve the issue.
If you cannot identify the account associated with the Scholarship ID, please contact the appropriate support team with the relevant details.
Understanding the Two Different Email Addresses
Applicants may encounter two different email addresses during the renewal process.
1. Previous Scholarship/Eligibility Email
This is the email address associated with your previous scholarship record.
It may be used during the verification process to receive the renewal verification code.
2. Portal Sign-In Email
This is the email address used to log in to your current scholarship portal account.
These two email addresses may be different.
If you are able to complete the required verification successfully, you may continue using your portal account as instructed.
If You Cannot Access the Previous Registered Email or Mobile Number
The verification code is sent to the contact associated with the previous scholarship record.
If you cannot receive the code through the available registered contact, do not repeatedly create new accounts or make repeated attempts.
Please seek assistance through the appropriate support process and provide the relevant renewal details.
Aadhaar Verification
Aadhaar verification is completed within the application process after the renewal has been successfully claimed.
If you are facing an Aadhaar-related issue, please first confirm whether you have successfully claimed your renewal and whether the issue is occurring inside the application form.
Follow the Aadhaar verification instructions provided on the portal and in the relevant guidance articles.
If You Started a Fresh Application by Mistake
If you started a fresh application but are actually eligible for renewal, carefully review the status of your application and proceed with the appropriate renewal process.
Depending on the application status, the portal may ask you to provide consent before continuing with the renewal.
Please read all instructions carefully before withdrawing, superseding, or giving up an existing application.
Application Statuses You May See
Your application may have different statuses, including:
Draft
Your application is still being completed and has not yet been submitted.
Submitted
Your application has been submitted and is under the prescribed process.
Superseded
An unfinished application was set aside while proceeding through another application route.
Withdrawn
A submitted application was deliberately withdrawn during the application process.
Please carefully review the status shown in your application portal before taking any further action.
