Why does my institution matter?
For the higher-education categories, the scholarship is aimed at students at premier institutions, so your institution must meet a ranking or accreditation bar.
Which institutions qualify?
- UG / PG (including Medical): premier institutions in India — those with NAAC 'A' accreditation or above, or ranked in the Top 300 (overall) of the NIRF 2025-26 rankings.
- Overseas: postgraduate and above courses at institutions ranked in the Top 200 of the QS / THE World University Rankings 2025-26.
- Medical colleges: AIIMS and the Top 50 NIRF-ranked medical colleges.
How do I check whether my institution qualifies?
The Eligibility Checker uses these lists, so the quickest way is to run it before registering. If your institution doesn't qualify for a higher-education category, see “Study gaps, diploma courses, and institutions not on the NIRF list”.
