Guidelines for Bonafide Certificates and Academic Mark Documents

To avoid any confusion during the application process, applicants should carefully understand when a Bonafide Certificate is required for academic marks and when a separate Bonafide Certificate is required for proof of identity.

1. If You Have an Official Marksheet or Marks Card

If you have an official marksheet or marks card showing your academic marks, you should upload that document as required.

In this case, you do not need to submit a Bonafide Certificate for marks.

However, if a Bonafide Certificate is being submitted separately as proof of student identity, it must be an official document issued by your institution and should contain the required authorised signature, stamp, and institutional seal.

2. If You Do Not Have a Marksheet and Only Have PASS/Grades

This applies only to students who do not have an official marksheet or marks card showing numerical or percentage marks, such as certain students from the COVID/Corona batch who received only PASS or grade-based results.

In such cases, students must first contact their school, college, university, or institution and request the appropriate conversion or clarification of their academic result into marks or percentage, wherever applicable.

The academic details provided by the institution must then be properly certified through an official Bonafide/academic certificate.

This Bonafide Certificate for marks must clearly mention the relevant academic details and must contain the authorised signature, official stamp, and institutional seal.

3. Bonafide Certificate for Proof of Identity

The Bonafide Certificate submitted as proof of identity is a separate document.

It should confirm that you are a current student of the respective institution and must be issued by the institution. The document should contain the appropriate authorised signature, stamp, and official institutional seal.

Important: When Will You Need Two Bonafide Certificates?

You will need to submit two separate Bonafide Certificates only if you do not have an official marksheet or marks card and are required to provide a Bonafide Certificate for your academic marks.

In such cases, you may submit:

  1. An Academic/Marks Bonafide Certificate confirming your marks, converted marks, or relevant academic details, with the authorised signature, stamp, and institutional seal.

  2. A separate Student Identity Bonafide Certificate for proof of identity, also with the authorised signature, stamp, and institutional seal.

Please do not submit two Bonafide Certificates unnecessarily. If you already have an official marksheet or marks card, you only need to submit the marksheet for your academic marks. A separate Bonafide Certificate for marks is required only when an official marksheet/marks card is not available.

Before uploading any Bonafide Certificate, please ensure that it is officially issued by your institution and includes the required authorised signature, stamp, and seal.
